Jamie
Connors - Head Coach
Jamie
began his coaching career in a small club outside of St.
Johns, NF in the early 80's. Since that time he has gradually moved across the
country with stops in Dartmouth, Antigonish, and Saskatoon. He
has 28 years of coaching experience to go along with a Master’s
degree in the Art & Science of Coaching and a teaching degree in
physical education. This is Jamie’s eight season as Head Coach for the
Calgary Patriots.
Jamie has worked for a number of Calgary clubs over the past 14
years while also traveling with the National Team as an exercise
physiologist. With his Team Canada duties, he’s had stops in
Sydney, Hong Kong, Manchester, and Japan (two trips).
In 2006-07
Jamie was named Swimming Canada and Swim Alberta Coach of the
Year. for performances by Erica Morningstar at World Champs in
Melbourne. Under Jamie’s guidance, the Calgary Patriots
have solidified their position in Calgary and Alberta as one of
the premier age group swim clubs.
Kevin Coulman
- Silver & Bronze Squad
Kevin started coaching in 99 for
the Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club. He spent 10 years with the
Goldfins moving up through the organization and had a lot of
success there. He spent a year in Campbell River as the head
coach for the Killer Whales and learned a lot in that
position. He is looking forward to bring his passion and
experience to the Patriots. He has a degree in Kinesiology from
the U of S and is a level 3 certified coach. In addition to
coaching Kevin will be continuing his coaching education.
Joyce Downey
- Red Squad
This
is Joyce's 5th season coaching and her 3rd season with the
Patriots. At the present time Joyce is working on completing
her
Level II. Joyce's love for swimming started at the age of 9 when
she
joined the Foothills Swim Club here in Calgary (now called UCSC)
and swam with them for 5 years finishing up in 1970 at the
National level. Her last position before coming back to
Calgary was as Head Coach of the Sylvan Lake Nauticals.
Joyce looks
forward to a successful season with the Red Squad.
Erik
Hogan- Black Squad
This
year Erik starts his third year coaching with the Patriots. Erik has
been active in swimming for over ten years and is focused on
converting his racing experience into excellent coaching.
He brings plenty of energy and excitement to the pool and is
excited to be coaching with the Patriots. Erik is very excited
to be coaching Black Squad this year and looks forward to a
fantastic season.
Pam
Robinson
- Grey Squad
Pam
has been involved in swimming since 1976, first as a swimmer and
later, beginning in 1987, as a coach. Pam has coached all age
groups and levels of swimmers in the past 20+ years,
including 1987-1992 with the Excalibur Swim Team
in Lethbridge, AB; 1992-1996 with the KISU swim
club in Penticton, BC; 1996-2000 with the Calgary Patriots Swim
Club in Calgary, AB; 2002-2003 with the Cascade Swim Club in
Calgary, AB and 2003- present with the Calgary Patriots Swim
Club. Pam has always had a love of the sport and a willingness
to share her knowledge with the athletes. The Calgary Patriots
Swim Club has held a special place in Pam’s heart for many years
as some of her greatest swimming and coaching memories are from
the years spent with this team. Pam is a Massage Therapist
outside of coaching and looks after numerous Calgary-area
swimmers in this capacity.
Chad
Michie- White Squad
This
year is Chad's first year with the big club after a number of years
as lead coach with the P-Too program. As a bonus Chad
spent the summer coaching summer club with the Calgary Tritons.
Chad has over 10 years experience in swimming as either a coach
or a competitive swimmer. He hopes to instill his love of
the sport to the new swimmers in the club.
Beth
Chetner - White Squad
This
is Beth's second year coaching with the Calgary Patriots after a
number of years running the CJC portion of the P-Too program.
Beth thoroughly enjoyed her coaching experience last year and is
looking forward to another positive year at Glenmore Pool.
